Crystaline says the trust only gives out curtains by referrals from doctors, health workers or social workers.
"We are always in need of curtains coming in because we give them out very fast."
Curtains are sent to homes to areas as far as Murupara and Minginui, she says.
They had even done a house lot which was put on a ship to Pitcairn Island.
Crystaline says curtains which are not suitable to give out to homes are given to the fire brigade, as they can be used to help train fire fighters on how different fabrics burn.
Having some knowledge of how curtains are hung and measured is essential for volunteers, she says.
"We are a friendly bunch and we have a luncheon every now and again to get together and relax."
She says health workers send the Curtainbank letters about how helpful it has been for people and families.
"It's so wonderful because they say it stops babies getting asthma and everyday colds, and helps keep people out of hospital and keeps homes warm.
"Keeping people warm is the main thing."
The Energy Efficiency Commission was established by the Labour Government in about 2008 and this led to the Healthy Homes initiative with Curtainbanks being set up all over the country.
