Action from Geyser City first XI v Te Puke, Ray Boord Park.

Rotorua's Geyser City first XI are on a roll after they secured a second impressive straight win in the Western Bay of Plenty reserve grade.

The local side, who batted first, won by 67 runs against Te Puke at Ray Boord Park on Saturday - their third winin the competition seeing them leap-frog their opposition off the foot of the table.

Geyser City put on an impressive display in the first innings - setting Te Puke a target of 231/9, to chase off 50 overs, despite being down 3/34 early on.

The home side's Amit Kumar top scored with 74 runs with Liam Kelly (51) and Brad Munro (41) also standouts with the bat.

And a strong bowling performance in the second innings saw Te Puke bowled out for 164 runs with Geyser City's Kerry Hingston grabbing 4/34 while Kelly took 3/38 and Sean Ingram 2/24.

Geyser City captain Matt Collier said his side were "on top of the world" after the result and highlighted the 135-run partnership of Kumar and Kelly and the playing experience of Pete Walters with the bat and his wicketkeeping skills.

"Everyone is on a real high," he said. "I am very satisfied with the team and we have just continued to build on our good work from last week.

"Amit and Liam were outstanding. We were in real trouble at one point and it looked like we might fold at the crease. But they came in and steadied the ship. They really applied themselves and set us up very well for the second innings.

"With the bowling I just advised that we bowl full balls with a lot of length and it worked well for us. We were very patient and we waited until Te Puke made mistakes.

"A mention needs to go to Pete also. He was excellent behind the stumps and he really was a great leader on the pitch. His experience showed when it really mattered."

With just two matches remaining before the first round silverware is presented on December 17, Collier is confidence his side can continue their good form against the final two opponents Sikh Sports and current table-toppers Lake Taupo CC.

"We just need to keep this momentum going and there is no reason why we can't win these last two games," he said. "We are especially looking forward to the grudge match with Taupo - it's always a great game to be involved in."
