It was a chilly morning for some Ngongotaha residents after a car hit a power pole early this morning, cutting off power to about 86 properties.
Rotorua Fire Brigade senior station officer Jim Prescott said staff were called after the accident on Hood St in Ngongotaha about 2.53am.
He said nobody was trapped and the people in the car had left the scene when the fire service arrived, leaving their car behind.
Mr Prescott said the Ngongotaha Volunteer Fire Brigade were first to arrive and contained the scene, disconnecting the battery from the car.
