Rotorua Lakes Council has requested an urgent meeting with the operators of the Lumbercube mill to address the issue of night time noise.
In a statement posted on its website today, the council said it had formed the view that the new mill operation appeared compliant in the day.
"However, it does not appear to council that this is the same case at night and there has been an escalation of night-time noise complaints received during this week.
"Council acknowledges that there is significant concern in our community and as such has requested an urgent meeting with the operators to understand just what has been happening.
"Council would then be looking to take appropriate action around this situation."
