Two Italian tourists who had their bikes stolen from their Rotorua campsite are overwhelmed with the community's response to their plight.
Giorgia Ricci, 28, and Chiara Vignoli, 23, have been given Rotorua accommodation, tours and experiences since their bikes, valued at about $15,000, were stolen just over a week ago.
The pair were on what was meant to be the adventure of a lifetime, cycling around New Zealand.
Bike Barn has lent two bikes to Miss Ricci and Miss Vignoli to use while they're in the area, and will sell them bikes at a discounted rate, manager Michael Mansell said.
"We have got some bikes set up to lend until we can get a couple sorted for them, it will be an upgrade for them," he said.
