By working in a partnership, council, mana whenua and eastside community representatives aim to make sure the plan for Hannahs Bay meets the needs and aspirations of the community who treasure and use the reserve.
Mokoia Community Association community-led manager Leigh Richards says the day will include a number of fun activities that fit with the current uses of the reserve, while also giving people the chance to provide feedback.
The activities are a pimp your pooch competition, flax weaving, waka ama (weather dependent), sand play, clue finding, face painting and a sausage sizzle.
There will be free microchipping and dog registration prizes with the pimp your pooch competition.
People will also be able to find out how they can get involved in the Eastside Predator Free Project and what it is about with an information booth.
"It's a really special reserve. It's got lots of lovely aspects to it - the lake, the playground and the wetlands."
Rotorua Lakes Council parks and recreation team member Christine Hutchison says they want to hear from everyone, of all ages.
"The reserve is quite huge, and it will be great to have some activities down there."
She encourages people to come down with their dressed-up dogs and to celebrate their furry four-legged friends. There will be prizes for the best-dressed pooches.
Consultation for the management plan review opened for a month from Wednesday.
