A Rotorua Lotto shop has been named the city's luckiest after selling winning tickets worth $520,000 in prizes last year.
Punters pocketed $520,000 in winnings from tickets purchased at Pak'n Save Rotorua's Lotto shop, while the region's biggest single winning ticket of $333,333 was sold from Te Ngae Hardware and Lotto.
Taupo was the region's luckiest Lotto district, with per capita winnings of $333.74, followed by $57.06 in Whakatane and $56.09 in Rotorua. Pak'n Save Rotorua Lotto shop manager June Ratapu said it was "the lucky store in town".
A display of about 12 first division Lotto trophies also helped lure customers inside.
Regular customers usually picked their own numbers, while the rest were happy to play Lucky Dip, she said. "I've been here for 16, 17 years and I've had some customers who have been coming in for that long."
