Reporoa's Sam Cane has been named the Chiefs' players' player of the year at the annual Chiefs Rugby Club Awards in Hamilton.

The six awards were collected by six different players last night, reflecting the teamwork that's become synonymous with this year's Chiefs team.

The 2016 Chiefs Award Winners are:

Development Taua Player Award: Mitchell Brown
Rookie of the Year: Taleni Seu
Fans Player of the Year: Damian McKenzie
Coaches Player of the Year: Aaron Cruden
Players' Player of the Year: Sam Cane
Chiefs Mana Kotiate: Stephen Donald

Veteran hooker Hika Elliot was honoured with a special presentation to acknowledge the significant milestone of reaching 100 games for the Gallagher Chiefs against the BNZ Crusaders in Fiji.

The Gallagher Chiefs focus now returns to their highly anticipated Kiwi derby against southern foes the Pulse Energy Highlanders on Saturday evening. With a place in the quarterfinals guaranteed, the current New Zealand Conference leaders must win in order to secure themselves the home advantage for their sudden death playoff match.
