Changes for major Taupo intersection

Changes will be made to a major Taupo intersection to improve traffic flow, it was announced today.

Taupo District Council said in order to improve traffic flow around the Taupo central business district, changes will be made to the Redoubt St/Tongariro St intersection and the Spa Rd roundabout.

Traffic turning out of Redoubt St will now only be allowed to turn left, and traffic may not turn right into Redoubt St.

In addition, new road markings will show that when entering the Spa Rd roundabout from the north, left lane traffic must turn left and right lane traffic must turn right.

Signage and road markings will be updated on April 9-10, weather permitting.
