Rotorua residents are being invited to strip off and celebrate the freedom of being naked as part of an awareness week this month.
The New Zealand Naturist Federation has announced a Go Natural Week, aimed at giving people the opportunity to experience the freedom that nude recreation brings, would be held nationwide between October 20-28 and Rotorua's free-spirited residents were being welcomed to two of the region's naturist venues to celebrate.
Naturism is described as a way of life in harmony with nature, expressed through social nudity, linked to self-respect and tolerance of differing views together with respect for the environment.
Naturist clubs throughout the country will be celebrating their lifestyle by holding various events during the week and some clubs are holding open days inviting individuals, couples and families to visit and discover the many benefits of naturism for good health and well-being - but there is no obligation to get undressed.
Rotorua residents can visit the Rotota Sun Club, Lake Ohakuri or the Bay of Plenty Sun Club at Matata to celebrate Go Natural Week.
