Busy time of year upon Rotorua SPCA, with fosterers needed

The Rotorua SPCA is tackling the busy kitten season, and fosterers are needed.

SPCA centre manager Sue Kinsella said it had had an influx of kittens in the past seven weeks.

She said the SPCA was in real need of more fosterers and urged people to give it a go.

"We need a huge amount of support, especially fosterers who can look after our mums and kittens in their homes. We provide everything – food, bedding etc. They bring the love."

A plea was made on its Facebook page recently calling for more fosterers.

"We have so many cats and kittens in our shelter that need to go out to foster so that they can have a comfortable space to grow and recover, and to get nice cuddles from some humans," the post said.

Kinsella said she also wanted to remind people to desex their pet.

If people had a Community Services Card, there were discounted desexing options available to them, she said.
