Mountain bike injuries, ski field rescues and motorcyclist crashes - it's been a busy and mixed few days for the Taupo-based Greenlea Rescue Helicopter.

Yesterday a woman in her forties, who was out mountain biking, was flown from the Timber Trail in the Pureora's to Rotorua Hospital with possible spinal injuries.

On Wednesday a motorcyclist was flown from Oruanui, north west of Taupo to Rotorua Hospital with spinal injuries.

On Tuesday December 27 the RARO Alpine Rescue Team was used to help recover a hiker from the upper slopes above Turoa ski field suffering from hypothermia.

On Boxing Day the longline and screamer suit (a type of nappy/harness) was used to recover a person who had fallen into red crater on the Tongariro Crossing.

Meanwhile Santa wasn't the only one flying on Christmas morning with the helicopter tasked with its own very important delivery - in the form of an urgent maternity transfer to Waikato Hospital.
