Colourful contemporary artwork depicting a series of Rotorua themes is a feature of new bus shelters being installed at inner city bus stops.
The installation of the shelters by Rotorua Lakes Council coincides with changes to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council's Cityride bus services starting on Monday, July 20.
In total, six new bus shelters will be installed, each featuring a unique design that reflects the stories of Rotorua.
Rotorua council's inner city revitalisation lead, councillor Karen Hunt, said the shelters would be bright and attractive and would include night lighting.
"They'll add another dimension to our growing streetscape of artworks around the city, providing additional vibrancy and functionality, and enhancing our Rotorua 2030 inner city revitalisation goal."
