Rotorua boxers are training hard in preparation for what will be the biggest competition of the year for them - the Boxing New Zealand Nationals.
Held in Invercargill on Tuesday October 6, the nationals will see eight Rotorua boxers head south to compete to be the best in their divisions.
They're part of a 12-strong Central North Island team comprised of boxers from Rotorua, Taupo and Tokoroa heading to the nationals.
The team includes two females, Evaanah Kingi fighting in the junior 70-75kg women's, and and Sonia Kingi, 14, in the cadet 45-49kg division.
Rotorua's greatest hope at the nationals is light heavyweight boxer Tyson Corban, 25, who is a hot prospect to win his eight-strong division and is also hoping to qualify for the New Zealand Olympic boxing team.
