Monsoon buckets were used to help put out a large scrub fire in Taupo last night.
A Taupo fire service spokesman said the fire broke out along the east Taupo arterial route at Wharewaka about 7pm last night, burning through about 4 hectares of land.
The spokesman said a fire crew from the Taupo District Council had fought the blaze.
Four forestry crews and three fire trucks, including rural fire authorities, returned earlier this morning to ensure the scene was under control.
Helicopters using monsoon buckets were also used to help control the fire.
