If you're a Rotorua resident who hasn't enjoyed many of the city's tourist activities - this week will be the week to do them.
Today marks the beginning of Rotorua Locals Week, which allows Rotorua residents to celebrate being a local and be entitled to at least a 50 per cent discount off the entry fee to more than 20 of the city's tourist attractions.
Residents will also get the chance to win two prize packs worth $1500 each.
One of the attractions taking part is the Lakeland Queen - New Zealand's only stern-driven paddle vessel and a popular Lake Rotorua icon.
Built locally and launched in 1986, the vessel has only ever sailed in Rotorua.
Sales and marketing manager Emma Hodges said they were really excited to be taking part in the locals week.
"Not a lot of people get to see their own backyard."
She said it would be great for locals to have the opportunity to see the city from the lake while enjoying great food, great service and live commentary from the captain.
"It's a unique experience, she said."
The vessel features a new kitchen, bar facilities, extra toilets and a dance floor.
Visit www.rotoruanz.com/locals to see who's offering discounts. You'll need proof you're a local and photo ID.
