It's been running for two decades, but there's a renewed passion and drive behind The Professionals McDowell Real Estate's Child Cancer Charity Breakfast and Art Auction.
Now in its 21st year, organiser Carol de Farias said they had mixed it up, adding bigger ticket items to the auction list, alongside a handful of paintings from plucky local cancer kids.
She said they'd come back from helping set up a similar event in New Plymouth with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and that was reflected in the decision to list several major items including a Wendy house, which was built and fitted out by tradespeople the company had dealt with, as well as an as-new mobility scooter and a heat pump.
Last year the event raised $20,000 and Ms de Farias said she hoped this year's event might reach $25,000.
At least a dozen artworks by local children living with cancer would also go under the hammer, with some expected to fetch several hundred dollars.
