The ice skating rink has also made a return at Taupo's Northcroft Reserve.
Turangi is hosting its second Turangi Colours Art and Food Festival. The festival aims to celebrate the art, the food and the scenery of the Turangi-Tongariro area, as well as its community, people and culture.
The centrepiece of the festival is the art and food market in the Turangi town centre from 10am until 2pm on Saturday.
As well as the art and food on display, there will also be street theatre performances from Free Lunch Street Theatre Company, live artists at work and music on the town centre stage.
Around the town centre, there are free workshops on the arts of pumice carving, flax flower weaving, Hebel concrete carving, sandpainting greeting cards and a Maori food wananga by expert Tom Loughlin of Kai Waho.
For a $20 fee, there are also two-hour workshops on making felt scarves and water colour painting.
For the children, there will be two free kids' art workshops and a big leaf dig. They're also welcome to give the pumice carving a go.
