A 71-year-old Kawerau woman bashed in her home in December last year has admitted she had no confidence for weeks after the attack.
Through a police spokesperson this week, the woman who was punched twice in the face in her home before her car was stolen, said an incident only a month ago left her shaken.
"About a month ago I went to the post office. I was in my car when a car load of youths pulled up beside me, they all had hoodies and caps on. My stomach turned over and my heart flipped and I almost didn't get out of the car for fear," she said.
However a friend of the woman's, who did not wish to be named, said despite the trauma, the woman was slowly returning to all of the things she did before the vicious assault.
"My friend took part in the February March Against Violence alongside all of the other people in Kawerau who are fed up with the bad things that happen in our town.
