The man accused of the 2013 stop-go murder of George Taiaroa has been denied bail.
Quinton Paul Winders, 45, had his bail application heard in the High Court at Rotorua today, in front of Justice Kit Toogood.
Winders was arrested last week at his Stratford home in relation to the death of Mr Taiaroa who was fatally shot while he worked on a one-lane bridge in Atiamuri, 30 km south of Tokoroa.
Defence counsel Jonathan Temm appeared for Winders and argued the case for bail but it was denied by Justice Toogood.
The arguments and reasons for rejecting the application are suppressed.
