A baby needing urgent medical treatment had to be airlifted from Kaingaroa Village to Rotorua Hospital tonight.
The Rotorua based BayTrust Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the settlement about 7pm.
A statement from helicopter staff said a baby boy was suffering from a serious medical event and required urgent transportation to hospital.
A St John Paramedic carried with the helicopter was able to stabilise the baby with medication on site before he was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital in a serious condition.
