Q. The Rotorua District Council has introduced TXTing so people can communicate with the council more easily. How does this work and what other ways can you contact the council, and what for?
A. The Rotorua District Council offers a 24/7 service so people can contact them if they are having issues with anything the council deals with.
So, if someone notices an issue that needs council attention, for example, leaking water pipes on the street, graffiti, street lights not working, neighbours having a loud party or roaming dogs, they can contact the council to let them know.
They also deal with roading and footpath maintenance, abandoned vehicles, illegally dumped rubbish and pollution control.
There are a number of different ways people can get in touch with the council. You can call council on (07) 348 4199, send a TXT to 4343, with ``RDC'' in the text before your message.
