There was an armed incident at the Selwyn Tavern this afternoon.

Rotorua police Senior Sergeant Geoff Barnett said two men, one armed with a knife, entered the tavern just after 12pm.

The pair took off with a small undisclosed amount of cash before a scuffle as patrons tried to stop them.

Police caught one of the alleged offenders.

The other man has not yet been caught, but police said they had leads to track him down.
