Applications are now open for the KiwiSport Regional Partnership Fund, a government-funded initiative to promote sport for school-aged children.
Sport Bay of Plenty co-ordinate the fund annually for sporting and community organisations to apply for.
It is designed to be an investment for projects that meet the goals of KiwiSport, which are to increase the number of school-aged children participating in organised sport, increase the availability and accessibility of sport opportunities for all school-aged children and support children to develop skills that enable them to participate confidently in sport.
The KiwiSport Regional Partnership Fund has funded more than $505,000 in the past year to support Bay of Plenty organisations in getting more young people playing sport and developing their skills.
This fund makes a positive difference to the community, as each organisation has a project which meets the needs of the children in their community.
These needs can include reducing barriers by subsidising transport or registration fees, providing new opportunities such as starting up a new weekly sports league or lunchtime programme, buying equipment, or improving the skills of our players, coaches and officials to make sport more sustainable and ensure quality delivery.
Organisations that can apply for the KiwiSport RPF include schools, sports clubs and associations, regional sports organisations, community centres and any other not-for- profit organisations that want to get more children playing sport and developing their skills.
There are two types of funds available this funding round - the KickStart Fund, aimed at smaller projects, and the Skilled Deliverers Fund, which is for new initiatives or current initiatives expanding into new areas.
