Rotorua's Essential 50: Day 7- Coffee spots

Whether it's a flat white or a long black that hits the spot, Rotorua has plenty of spots to enjoy your favourite coffee.

Rotorua is the home to a large number of cafes - from the iconic ones like Fat Dog and Zippy Central Cafe that have been around for years, to newer favourites like The Third Place and Abracadabra.

And the city is no stranger to some of the bigger named chain coffee stores like Starbucks and Columbus.

Grabbing a coffee is an essential part of the Rotorua experience for locals and tourists alike, which is why it features in our Essential 50.

Readers all have their own loyalties to their favourite coffee shop with a post on the Rotorua Daily Post Facebook page getting a mixed reaction - which just goes to show the range of places out there.

The local McCafes, Wildbeans and Colombus Coffee outlets all proved popular, as well as local favourites like Zippys and Starbucks.

Earlier this year barista Simon Kerr from Zippy's won the top award as Rotorua's outstanding barista at the Rotorua Hospitality Awards.

There are also cafes at many of Rotorua's favourite tourist attractions including a new coffee cart at the Redwoods.
