Gloomy electronica band Portishead are set to return to Auckland in November after a 14 year absence.
The Bristol band spearheaded the '90s UK trip-hop movement -- a fusion of hip hop and electronica -- alongside Massive Attack and Tricky.
The band, that had gone on a hiatus after the highly acclaimed 1994 album Dummy and the 1997's self-titled Portishead, regrouped in 2008 and has since released a third album named Third.
With a band led by the core trio of Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons and Adrian Utley, Portishead have been playing European summer festivals with a show featuring tracks from each of their three albums, and will be touring North America before their last shows of the year in New Zealand and Australia.
They will play on November 10, at Auckland's Vector Arena.
