If you have been put off craft beer in the past then this week's beer is a great way to get back into the growing trend.

Good George Brewing's Sparkling Ale is sure to be a hit this summer.

It's a sharp, refreshing, very clean tasting ale which is light in flavour and will not scare off those who don't like the typical craft beer flavour kick that can be a bit off-putting to the uninitiated.

There are nicely understated and mellow citrus flavours and a malty bitter-sweet aftertaste which is in no way overpowering.

It's not a mainstream beer, but if you like a crisp lager then give it a try.

Good George managing director Darrel Hadley said its beers were brewed to try and turn people on to craft beer.

"We want to take people off the green bottle and into craft beer. This [beer] is certainly a great way to introduce your friends to craft brewing," he said.

So, if you're looking at giving craft beer another try or just starting out on your craft beer journey, Good George Brewing's Sparkling Ale should be your first port of call. And, at 4.5 per cent, you won't be stopping at just one.

My rating is a solid four-out-of-five pints.

Beer supplied by Brew Craft Beer Pub Rotorua and Tauranga. This week's beer is also available at select Liquorland outlets and in Tauranga at Comida, Mount Brewing Co and Elizabeth Cafe & Larder.
