A Hamilton man has come up trumps at the National Road and Track Speed Skating Championships held in Wanganui recently, taking out all eight titles and two national records.
Scott Moody, who began skating as a child, has only been competing since 2013 and as well taking home eight medals also broke two national records on the 100m indoor flat track, in the 300m time trial and in the 500m race.
Scott said his competition was made easier with his arch Kiwi rival having recently been injured in a mountain biking accident.
"I missed him being there. He's a good guy but he should be back this year," he said.
His toughest competition on the day came from visiting French skater Olivier Heuze.
