"This will be a good opportunity for me. I am guaranteed to get game time at least with the reserves and then there is a chance to push into the first team," Owen said.
"It is still a good league and a physical one so it will help me as a young player coming through."
Owen said that the squad has a good mix and has the potential to go far this season.
"It's a good mix. I get a long with the older boys and have watched them play before."
"With the younger boys I have played against them at school but it will be good to be on the same team."
It will be a special feeling for Owen this season as he links up with his older brother Hamish for the first time in the winter league.
Joining Owen at Claudelands is former Melville United player Perry James Katesmark who is excited at the prospect of linking up with Owen in the midfield.
"Owen is a similar sort of footballer to me. He is young and he listens and works really hard and that is always a good thing to link up with," Perry said.
Perry featured regularly for the Melville United reserve team last season, but this season wants to break into a club's first team squad and he hopes Claudelands will provide him with that opportunity.
"I want to get this team promoted and I want to enjoy my football."
"I want to play to the best of my ability and if that can get the team promoted, great."
He believes that the mixture of youth and senior will be a deciding factor for the team.
"A lot of us are 22 and under but there are a few old heads out there who can really make a difference out there."
The squad under the guidance of Cossey and Comber will start the season on Saturday March 24.
