Overall Marist Premier did enough to secure their first win 50 goals to 44, which given how close the game was they were happy about.
For Marist Premier, Pou Ruri-Clarke at goal attack played well, working the court and shooting well, and Hannah Bree at goal keep made it hard for the shooters and was consistent in defence.
For St Peters it was a great effort overall and there was some outstanding shooting in the second half from Sade Kaipara-Morrison at goal attack, particularly in the final quarter.
The other competitive game was that between Verdettes Marist Old Girls and Fraser Tech Netball Club Premier Reserve who are showing real promise.
Again this was close at the end of the first quarter with Old Girls having a three-goal lead which they able to improve on in the second quarter to increase their lead to six goals at halftime.
FTNC Premier Reserve showed they had come to play, winning the third quarter by a goal only to see Old Girls do a resurgence in the final quarter to win 56 goals to 44.
Old Girls used this game to trial a number of new combinations so did not get any real synergies and it was a hard grind effort from the team.
For FTNC Premier Reserve they played a calm controlled game using short front cut passes with effect.
Player of the match was Jess Blake at wing attack for her accurate passes and constant resetting and working her way around the circle edge.
Waikato Diocesan Open A again showed a lot of heart in their game against FTNC Premier.
FTNC Premier had a very strong first and second quarter to lead at half time by 23 goals.
The remainder of the game was close and highly competitive with FTNC Premier only able to improve on their lead by four goals winning 68 goals to 43.
For FTNC Premier they continued to build on developing connections on court.
The standout for the game was Jade Wharenate at wing attack who controlled the attacking end.
Laura Hutchinson was solid at goal shoot shooting accurately and consistently.
For Diocesan, the young development player Rhiannon Parry filling in at goal keep hunted well and picked up a lot of ball.
Uni Premier had another slick and polished performance, this time against Nottingham Castle Rangers but the score did not reflect the game overall.
The first quarter went all Uni Premier's way and they were also dominant in the second quarter to have a comprehensive 17-goal lead at halftime.
The third quarter was drawn which is a real credit to the Rangers team before Uni Premier came back with a vengeance in the final quarter. The fulltime score was 80 goals to 44.
For Uni Premier Rachel Fabling at goal defence and Hannah Munn at goal keep were standouts and they got a lot of turnover ball for the attacks.
For Rangers the slow start cost them dearly. The halftime changes including Chanay Peri moving from wing attack into wing defence and Rachael Parker coming on to court at wing attack were effective.
Peri was able to slow the Uni ball down defensively and showed great timing in bringing the ball through court on attack.
The experience was invaluable for the two young up and coming players in the team.
