The National Remembrance Service for victims of the Christchurch terrorism attack, to be held this Friday, will be livestreamed at Claudelands Arena.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the National Remembrance Service on Sunday 24 March. It will take place on Friday 29 March, at 10am, in Christchurch's Hagley Park.
Hamilton Mayor Andrew King says it's important the city's residents have a further opportunity to reflect on the horrific events in Christchurch, and can participate in what will be a nationwide event.
"New Zealanders have shared strong emotions and support for one another since March 15," Mayor King says.
"The National Remembrance Service is a unique and unprecedented event and the Council has an important role to play in ensuring our community can come together to mark what occurred and reflect on what it means for our nation – and how we have responded as a people."
