Practical skills to simplify life and save money are being shared at Te Whare o Te Ata on Thursday afternoons.
The first in a series of six "Thriving on a Shoestring" programmes got off the ground this week at the Fairfield Neighbourhood House at 60A Sare Cres.
Topics to be covered in the series include creating low cost gifts, vegetable gardening, healthy cooking on a budget, simple ways to maintain clothing and managing money.
The programme of helpful tips and easy-to-follow practical life lessons is a partnership between Te Whare o Te Ata and the Waikato institute for Leisure and Sport.
Yesterday's initial session with Dawn Hale and Jo Macky covered gifts on a budget using material already in the home, recycled and repackaged with love and a personal touch.
