Two of Hamilton's oldest established musical organisations will combine to perform at the upcoming Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival.
Hamilton City Brass band has invited members of the Hamilton Caledonian Pipe Band to perform at A Celtic Journey concert on Sunday February 11.
The opportunity for brass bands and pipe bands to combine does not often happen, but a large outdoor venue such as the Hamilton Gardens is perfect for the collaboration, says band spokesperson Marilyn Edgecombe.
Hamilton City Brass is New Zealand's newest A-Grade band, having recently been promoted to the premier grade following their B-Grade win in 2017.
Marilyn says that the band is relishing their new A-Grade status and embracing the challenges ahead as they prepare for the New Zealand National Brass Band Championships in Blenheim mid-year.
