Swimmers are diving into the city's public pools in increasing numbers.
A report to Hamilton City Council's operations and activity performance committee covering the six months to September, shows a 10 per cent increase in the number of visits to Hamilton's Waterworld and Gallagher Aquatic Centre facilities.
Community development and leisure manager Deanne McManus-Emery says the swimming facilities have exceeded their target for 2011-12 by more than 59,000 visits.
The number of visits for April-September jumped from 242,000 in 2010, to 275,000 in 2011 and 285,000 during 2012.
May and September were the busiest months for the facilities with more 50,000 visits, while use of the hydrotherapy pool continues to grow, with 1697 visits in September.
