The day was fresh and having just finished an interview, I was ready to get out for a stroll. I haven't had much time in the past to explore Raglan, so I decided to do a track I wouldn't normally.
Bryant Memorial Reserve tracks (I saw three) looked like my best bet, short but scenic, with just the right amount of exercise.
The track winds through the bush, beginning with a gentle decline. Eventually you pop out of the bush at this incredible look-out, and it shows off Raglan's wild side.
Carrying on down the track it narrows and gets slightly steeper, bringing you out on to the popular surf beach, Ngarunui. The only down side to going down hill first, with this track you've got to come back up that.
It's not overly steep and I didn't feel exhausted after it, but I would say a general level of walking fitness is needed and it is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
