The man dubbed Hamilton's "Dr Bogan" has an appointment at Chartwell Library later this month.
Hamilton resident Dave Snell is well known in academic circles following his ground-breaking Waikato University thesis, The Everyday Bogans: Identity and Community Amongst Heavy Metal Fans.
More recently, he has published a book entitled Bogan: An Insider's Guide to Metal, Mullets and Mayhem, which will be showcased during his talk, An Appointment with the Doctor.
Dr Snell's studies have received nationwide media coverage, and he's lectured on the subject at conferences in several different countries.
"I'll talk about my studies in general, share some stories from researching bogans, and talk a bit about why bogans are important and how they fit with New Zealand society and our national identity," Dr Snell says.
