I've just adopted a new kitten, and it's not getting along with my adult cat. What can I do to help them start feeling comfortable together?
It's a good idea to give both cats their own space, as they will need a bit of time to get used to each other.
It's best to start both cats off with their own separate area, with their own food and litter trays. If you do this for at least a few days, they'll be able to smell each other and will start to get used to the idea.
After a few days, slowly allow them access to each other - but don't force them to interact.
Hopefully, before long they will be having lots of fun playing together, but bear in mind that they are territorial animals so need a bit of time to adjust.
