Jaime Lyth is a multimedia journalist for the New Zealand Herald, focusing on crime and breaking news.
Jaime Lyth began working under the NZ Herald masthead in 2021, as a reporter for the Northern Advocate in Whangārei. Her time in Northland exposed her to rural communities often overlooked and isolated from support systems and resources that New Zealand's inner cities receive. She is passionate about reporting on such social issues and inequalities. In 2023, she joined the NZ Herald team in the Auckland newsroom as a multimedia journalist, focusing on crime and breaking news. She has reported on youth crime and has extensively covered the chronic issue of retail ram raids and gun crime across the country. Jaime spent her childhood in Selwyn and Christchurch. She studied a Bachelor of Communications at Massey University in Wellington. Jaime can be contacted at jaime.lyth@nzme.co.nz
