SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) Thousands of nurses who work at hospitals across the Dominican Republic are planning a two-day strike to demand higher wages.
An estimated 13,000 nurses who belong to five large unions will go on strike starting Monday. Union spokesman Rafael Figuereo told reporters Saturday that the strike could be extended if their demands are not met.
He said that nurses earn between $285 and $380 a month.
