Police said the 27-year-old, who was driving a ute with a male passenger, then confronted the boy a second time.
The two men chased the 16-year-old as he tried to run away and assaulted him in the frontyard of a house. They also threatened him with a gun.
Both men fled in the ute, which was stopped by police a short time later. Officers seized the gun and arrested the 27-year-old.
He was charged with affray, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, low-range drink-driving and firearm offences.
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
The second man managed to flee the area on foot.
