Dating service draws fire for making fun of plus-sized women

An American dating service that offers affairs for married people has released two advertisements that make fun of plus-sized women.

Ashley Madison, a dating service that promotes itself as a "married dating service for discreet encounters", released an ad last week which asks, "Did your wife SCARE you last night?" accompanied by a photo of an overweight woman lounging in lingerie.

After seeing the ad, the overweight model requested that Ashley Madison not present her photo that way.

"I do not appreciate my image being used, without notice or permission, to tell women I have never met otherwise," she told Jebezel.com.

"I am a size 32. I am beautiful. I think women of all sizes are beautiful. Beauty is not and has never been one-size-fits-all."

However, this week the agency's released a second ad - contrasting the plus-sized woman with a picture of a slender model and the caption "We call it as we see it".

Ashley Madison's CEO told Jebezel that the ad was "the best thing that could've happened to this woman".

"If she can get great publicity from this, all the power to her."
