A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Tonga early this morning.
No tsunami warning was issued.
The undersea quake was quite deep, hitting at a depth of 23km about 118 km from the capital Nuku'Alofa, the USGS said.
Tonga lies on the so-called Pacific "Ring of Fire", where continental plates collide causing frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
