KEY POINTS:
Hastings thieves might be lost in translation after stealing a bunch of laptops that operate only in the Czech language.
Sergeant Matt King of Hastings police said $10,000 worth of laptops and cameras were taken from a residential property sometime during the day yesterday.
The equipment was owned by a number of Czech nationals who were in the country on a working holiday.
The language on the laptops was that of their owners, Mr King said.
It was possible that on realising the computers were not operated in English, the thieves would be seeking technical advice in changing the language, he said.
Police would like any information on anyone attempting to sell laptop computers and cameras at a very cheap prices, as they may have been taken in the burglary.
