Paige Hareb was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Legendary Pacific Coast Pro surfing competition off the New South Wales coast to end New Zealand's tilt at the title.
Hareb was ousted by reigning world champion Sally Fitzgibbons of Australia, who was ousted by eventual winner Coco Ho.
The Hawaiian beat ATP tour rookie Courtney Conlogue (United States) in today's final.
Promising junior Sarah Mason, New Zealand's other survivor when the field was culled to 12, was knocked out at that stage before the quarters.
The Newcastle event served as a lead-up to the second round of the ATP world tour which starts at Bells Beach in Victoria on March 30.
