David Tua's management team has rejected a fight against Nigerian boxer Friday Ahunanya planned for December in Auckland.
The bout had been pencilled in and organisers were awaiting for Tua's management to agree terms.
But his manager Cedric Kushner has released a statement saying Tua's first defence of his WBO Asia Pacific and Oriental titles will be in January in one of four cities - New York, Honolulu, Sao Paulo or Berlin.
Kushner says Tua will return to fight in New Zealand at some stage next year.
