Dry weather is forecast for the biggest ever Auckland Marathon this Sunday, with more than 13,500 runners and walkers lined up to compete.
The current running boom is showing no signs of abating, with the full marathon and half marathon fields sold out months ago.
Metservice forecaster John Crouch said temperatures around 6 am on Sunday should be aroundd 9 degrees, rising to 13 or 14 by 10am.
"It should be pretty good running conditions," he said, with a light south-westerly and some cloud. There was only a small chance of light showers.
The 13,500 entrants are taking part in all events - the Marathon, Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 5km Walk and the Kids Marathon.
By far the most popular event of the Adidas sponsored race is the Half Marathon (21km), with 6800 people entered. Another 2200 have entered the Full Marathon - 42.2km.
