Herald racing writer takes out top award

Herald racing writer Mike Dillon has won New Zealand racing's biggest media award.

Dillon accepted the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Media Award at the annual national awards dinner to celebrate excellence in the galloping code in Hastings last night.

Dillon has been the senior racing writer at the Herald for over a decade and has spent a lifetime covering many of New Zealand racing's greatest moments around the world.

He has won numerous awards during his career and will cover the huge summer of racing, including the Melbourne Cup, for the Herald again this season.
