FUESSEN, Germany (AP) Germany qualified for the men's curling tournament at next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi by beating the Czech Republic 7-4 in a playoff game on Saturday.
German skip Felix Schulze scored three points with his last stone in the first extra end after the Czechs leveled the score at 4-4 with a single steal in the 10th.
The Czech Republic gets another chance to reach the Sochi Games as it will play the United States on Sunday to determine who takes the second Olympic berth on offer in the qualification event in Fuessen.
The U.S. beat South Korea 7-5 in a tiebreaker game at BLZ Arena to stay alive in qualifying.
