The bomb squad and army were called in yesterday after a stick of explosive material was found under a South Auckland house.
The stick, believed to contain nitroglycerine, was found beneath the house on Gibbons Rd in Weymouth, by builders doing renovation work. They alerted police at about 11.30am and the bomb squad was called in.
Inspector Peter Raynes said while it was unstable, it posed no danger to the public.
