Damaged yacht washed ashore

A badly damaged yacht was found washed up on Wellington's south coast this morning.

The 30 foot catamaran yacht was discovered by another vessel in Te Ikaamaru Bay shortly before 11am, Inspector Paul Jermy said.

It has a blue hull, a white deck and a single mast.

"Police have not yet been able to determine the name of the yacht and do not know the origin of its journey."

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information on the yacht.
